Hedgehog friendly vets

Unfortunately not all vets are happy to see a sick or injured hedgehog.  In the UK vets receive no specific training in the treatment of wildlife so they may not have any experience or facilities for its long term rehabilitation. There is a common myth that vets are obliged to treat wildlife for free. In fact they are obliged only to relieve suffering, this may lead to hedgehogs being euthanased unnecessarily.

If you have found a hedgehog that is bleeding or has obvious injuries, it's essential that it is taken to see a vet as soon as possible.  Below is a list of local veterinary practices that we know have experience in handling and treating hedgehogs:-
